You will serve as a Exploratory Development System Engineer and Design SME in the Research & Development Group, Weapons & Energetics Dept, Weapons Development Div of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.
What You'll Do
- →You will Exercise direct authority to make critical decisions regarding the cost, schedule, and performance of the XDEV portfolio, ensuring all projects align with technical requirements and Command strategic objectives.
- →You will act as a primary representative for NAWCWD to other DoD components and external agencies for business development, technical exchange meetings, and program status updates.
- →You will prepare and deliver complex technical and programmatic briefings to high-level leadership within NAWCWD and across external partner agencies to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- →You will lead engineering efforts for high-impact portfolios, including Naval Special Warfare (NSW) projects, custom aircraft development for classified missions, and Weapon Systems Development Transformation initiatives.
- →Yow will serve as the design lead for complex systems, providing cradle-to-grave expertise to ensure hardware, software, and mechanical components work in concert to meet urgent and emerging warfighter needs.
- →You will maintain significant and frequent interaction with stakeholders to lead requirements definition, refinement, and risk identification, ensuring engineering rigor is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- →You will provide expert-level mechanical engineering guidance, including the application of advanced design concepts, the execution of critical experiments, and the management of mechanical design development flows.
- →You will drive workforce development by providing focused technical training to journeyman-level engineers and providing general mentorship and guidance to Engineer and Scientist Development Program (ESDP) personnel.
- →You will conduct high-level design and system-level reviews, simulations, and analyses.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess 0830 Series: Successful completion of a degree in Engineering.
- ✓The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: 1.
- ✓Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)1 , or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- ✓Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration.
- ✓For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Board's eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions. 2.

- ✓Office of Personnel Management.

- ✓Specified academic courses -- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A.
- ✓The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A. 4.
- ✓Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
