You will serve as Head of the Platform Noise Branch (Code 724) of the Acoustic Technology Development Division (Code 72) of CARDEROCK DIV NS. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15.
What You'll Do
- →You will manage scientists and engineers in the development of theory leading to modeling and simulation (analytical, computational, and physical scale modeling) techniques to predict and address platform noise signatures.
- →You will work with Division 72 SMEs to oversee efforts in platform noise mitigation which considers all design, development and evaluation of acoustic performance.
- →You will monitor small, intermediate and full-scale testing associated with platform noise mitigation.
- →You will oversee development and execution of experiments to evaluate the performance effectiveness of signature mitigation technologies.
- →You will interact with Acquisition Program Managers, Design Managers, Technical Warrant Holders, industry, and Navy shipyards to ensure all platform noise requirements are identified and addressed.
- →You will recruit top talent and develop employees to have the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to meet Branch demand.
- →You will assist in developing, attaining, and supporting Division 72 goals and initiatives by providing creative solutions to Division problems and substantive responses; support the development of Command initiatives and objectives.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Professional Engineering 08XX Series: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
- ✓For the 1310, Physics Series: Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- ✓In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
