About the Role
This Licensed Practical Nurse role is available at the VA Community Care Clinic in York, PA, and is specifically open to current employees of the Lebanon, PA VAMC.
What You'll Do
- →The York VA Outpatient Clinic Lab LPN is responsible for the evidence-based care of a group of patients as follows: Supports diagnostic procedures Receives patients scheduled for the various clinics, phlebotomy, or arriving for other ambulatory care.
- →Assist patients with getting on and off examination tables/phlebotomy chairs.
- →Escorts ambulatory patients and transports patients via litter or wheelchair when required.
- →Ensures all specimens are labeled according to facility policy.
- →Sets up examination room by providing necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring clinic area and equipment is aseptically clean and in order, and assures patient charts and necessary information is available.
- →Assists providers and nurses by supplying needed equipment, providing information such as, vital signs, weight, observations, and information obtained from the patient.
- →Assure smooth clinic operations by directing the patient to the appropriate area.
- →Inventories, orders, and restocks needed linens and supplies.
- →Detects and reports defective equipment and unsafe work conditions.
- →Use correct protective personal equipment and standard precautions in all areas of patient care.
- →Maintain order and cleanliness in storage and work areas.
- →Assist with technical nursing treatments: Performs electrocardiogram (EKG), places Zoll on the patient, and completes glucometer checks on patient, when indicated.
- →Performs accessioning of ordered labs.
- →Performs phlebotomy.
Requirements
