About the Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse GS-7 Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) serves as a member of the nursing team in any Community Living Center (CLC) house. The LPN GS-7 performs more complex nursing assignments within their settings.

What You'll Do

  • The LPN at the GS 7 level must exercise independent judgement and requires minimal supervisory oversight.
  • The incumbent is expected to participate to a greater degree in prioritizing and, as appropriate, modifying patient care treatment plans.
  • He/she must also possess the ability to observe subtle physical and emotional changes in patients, exercise sound nursing judgement, and demonstrate appropriate action based on those observations.
  • Perform complex wound care and wound vac therapy, IV antibiotics (Central and PICC), enteral feedings (PEG) tubes and jejunostomy (J) tubes, parenteral nutrition.
  • Document wound assessment, including measurements weekly and with any major change.
  • Perform wound Irrigation.
  • Removal and application of simple to complex dressings on all types of wounds.
  • Audit wound care documentation and educate staff on proper skin and wound documentation.
  • Conduct specialized practical nursing activities that include Wound Treatment Associate care, Restorative Nursing Care, Dementia Care using a specific care model such as "Positive Approach", and Hospice/Palliative Care.
  • Prepares and administers prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, Intramuscular, and/or intravenous) and performs treatments according to established policies/procedures.
  • Recognizes changes in residents' conditions, astute in assessing the need for intervention which may be of emergent nature requiring immediate attention.
  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
  • Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
