About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

- →The incumbent will interface with personal computer (PC) applications and numerous VISTA applications in the performance of his/her duties.
- →Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other appropriate licensed healthcare providers, the GS-07 LPN functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team in the program.
- →The incumbent assists nursing and other program staff, including licensed and non-licensed mental health staff in offering a range of treatments focused on the physical and psychological well-being of residents in the program.
- →This LPN will facilitate all care in fast track area of Medical Emergency Room (MER).
- →Fast track is an essential component to the emergency department workflow providing care to Veterans who require little work-op from the main department.
- →Will demonstrate knowledge of human behavior, motivations, and reactions to situations in the provision of nursing care, provide a safe environment and protect patients' rights, and recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- →The LPN will review reports of a patient's condition and other pertinent data, using judgment in selecting the most appropriate application of procedures and guidelines.
- →Will demonstrate an ability to determine when changes in the patients' conditions are significant enough to notify the immediate supervisor for assistance in decision making and/or determining nursing care.
- →The LPN will have the ability to make recommendations for changes in the treatment plan based upon observations, analysis of patients' condition and response to the current plans.
- →The LPN provides assistance with physical care of patients by observing, identifying, and responding to specific patient needs.
- →The LPN prepares patients for off/on unit diagnostic procedures and administers more complex treatments under the close supervision of RN/LPN/MD or other licensed staff.
- →The LPN serves as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and contributes to the development of nursing care plans, taking into consideration gender, cognitive, physical, emotional, and social factors in modifying the plans.
- →The LPN conducts an assessment of medication independence prior to admission to and at the time of admission and collects information on other health-related behaviors as part of the admission process and throughout the admission and helps to prepare the patient for discharge.
