About the Role

The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran.

  • Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with clinical protocols and scope of practice.
  • Support providers and RNs in patient assessments by gathering health histories and documenting observations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely electronic health record documentation.
  • Participate in patient and family education by reinforcing teaching plans developed by RNs or providers.
  • Ensure infection control and safety procedures are followed in all clinical areas.
  • Respond to patient needs promptly and escalate concerns as appropriate.
  • Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies to ensure readiness for patient care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support effective patient care delivery.
  • Contribute to quality improvement activities, audits, and compliance tasks.
  • Participate in emergency responses within the unit according to training and protocol.
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm - Intermittently Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorzied Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
  • When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
