About the Role
The Licensed Practical Nurse is technically proficient in initiating, performing, and completing assigned duties in providing care to clients. Serves as a member of a team with an assigned patient load of selected patients.
What You'll Do
- →The Licensed Practical Nurse is technically proficient in initiating, performing, and completing assigned duties in providing care to clients.
- →Serves as a member of a team with an assigned patient load of selected patients.
- →The Licensed Practical Nurse in this position in the Specialty Care Clinic: Maintains current/active Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification.
- →Completes required Talent Management System (TMS) training.
- →Administers immunizations and documents appropriately.
- →Provides immediate nursing intervention in emergency situations.
- →Is responsible for ordering/maintaining/stocking supplies in the clinical area.
- →Responds to secure messages within 2 business days. - Responds to Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) messages as appropriate to scope of practice.
- →Interviews patient, obtains vital signs, and prepares patients for visits with Specialty Care Provider.
- →Works with Primary Care Nurses in completing clinical reminders on required Specialty Clinics (Pulmonology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Diabetes, and Endocrinology).
- →Provides immediate nursing intervention in all emergency situations.
- →Adheres to Nursing Documentation guidelines per Medical Center Policy.
- →Works as a team player in providing care to the Veterans as directed by the Nurse Manager (covering staff call-offs, Als (vacation), etc.) Monitors and records temperatures for refrigerators if appropriate and reports out of range temperatures.
- →Completes weekly Environment Of Care (EOC) checklist in the assigned clinic area.

- ✓Must be able to meet physical demands which include strenuous physical activity to include carrying persons and equipment, walking long distances over difficult terrain, running, climbing, working long hours in primitive or arduous conditions, long periods of standing, and bending and stooping.
