About the Role
Join the Minneapolis VA Health Care System as a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), providing advanced outpatient support across Neurology and PM&R clinics. This role delivers complex nursing care, assists with specialized procedures, manages clinical equipment, coordinates patient flow, and supports Veterans through comprehensive rehabilitative treatment.
What You'll Do
- →VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4 Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but not limited to: Perform outpatient nursing care including vital signs, medication administration, procedure support, and wound care.
- →Assist Neurology and PM&R clinics with check-ins, safe patient handling, RME cleaning, and obtaining urine toxicology samples.
- →Conduct patient interviews and provide pre/post-procedure education for PRP and Pain Interventional clinics.
- →Operate and troubleshoot specialized equipment such as PRP and centrifuge devices; collaborate on equipment acquisition.
- →Serve as on-call nurse for Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) deactivation/reactivation hospital-wide.
- →Perform vascular access procedures, including IV placement and lab draws, and train staff in these skills.
- →Support Pain Interventional procedures by monitoring vital signs, assisting intra-procedurally, documenting abnormalities, and participating in huddles.
- →Assist with lumbar punctures, including positioning, equipment setup, continuous monitoring, and post-procedure recovery guidance.
- →Recognize and respond to subtle physical or emotional clinical changes, reporting drug/treatment reactions promptly.
- →Coordinate care across PM&R and Neurology clinics, liaising with interdisciplinary teams to enhance the Veteran rehabilitation experience.
- →Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
- →Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
