About the Role

The incumbent (LPN) is responsible for assisting the RN and Providers with scheduled clinic patients and walk-in patient's lab work, GYN procedures, Urology catheter changes, and ultrasound guided PRP procedures. The incumbent is responsible for participation in PI projects and other VA driven outpatient programs to improve patient care. This position is located at Baltimore VA Medical Center.

  • Below are some of the key duties and responsibilities of a Licensed Practical Nurse - Outpatient Specialty Clinic (LPN): The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) GS-3 is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the Veteran.
  • The LPN/LVN GS-3 is considered a novice and performs within this functional statement under close supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee.
  • Assigned tasks require basic technical competence and skill.
  • The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) GS-4 is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the Veteran.
  • Performs within this functional statement under frequent guidance of the Nurse Manager or designee.
  • Assigned tasks require basic technical competence and skill.
  • The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) GS-5 is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the Veteran.
  • Performs within this functional statement under guidance of the Nurse Manager or designee.
  • Assigned tasks require basic technical competence and skill.
  • The LPN/LVN GS-5 is expected to function at a fully successful level for all key elements of the GS-3 and GS-4 grades.
  • The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) GS-6 is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the Veteran.
  • Performs within this functional statement under guidance of the Nurse Manager or designee.
  • Assigned tasks require basic technical competence and skill.
  • The LPN/LVN GS-6 is expected to function at a fully successful level for all key elements of the GS-5 grade.
