About the Role
The Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Healthcare System is seeking 2 Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurses within the Geriatrics and Extended Care Clinics. Provides safe, effective practical nursing care to older adults in outpatient geriatric settings under RN and provider supervision. Support chronic disease management, patient/family education, and clinic flow. Rotation to other clinical areas will occur based on patient volume and staffing needs.
What You'll Do
- →Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Geriatric and Extended Care Clinics Duties: Deliver patient care within LPN scope: assess, document, and promptly report changes in condition.
- →Prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments; monitor and record patient responses.
- →Recognize urgent or emergent situations and initiate appropriate interventions, escalating to RN or provider.
- →Support complex diagnostic tests and specialized procedures, including patient preparation and instrument handling.
- →Maintain patient privacy and foster constructive relationships with patients and families.
- →Rotate across Geriatric and extended care clinics to ensure coverage and continuity of care.
- →Technically proficient LPN working under RN direction; exercises judgment in sequencing care and accurate reporting.
- →Competent in medication administration (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and treatment procedures per policy.
- →Strong interpersonal skills to support patient/family education and effective teamwork.
- →Upholds privacy and dignity; contributes to team training of less experienced staff when appropriate.
- →Perform other duties that's needed.
- →Work Schedule: 8:00 am-4:30 pm.
- →Work Schedule is subject to change based on agency need.

Requirements

- ✓Must be able to meet physical demands which include strenuous physical activity to include carrying persons and equipment, walking long distances over difficult terrain, running, climbing, working long hours in primitive or arduous conditions, long periods of standing, and bending and stooping.
