About the Role
The LPN at the Baltimore, MD VA Medical Center serves as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team with selected patient and provides care to them on a regular and recurring basis. NOTE: This is an Intermittent Position.
What You'll Do
- →Documenting care provided and observations on appropriate tools or forms.
- →Assuring receipt of adequate nutritional intake either through observation, feeding, or properly positioning and checking placement of the feeding tube for the patient/resident.
- →Administering medications, stoma care (e.g. tracheotomy, suctioning, colostomy), enemas, skin care, simple dressings, braces and prosthetic devices.
- →Monitors intake and output, according to established policy and procedure.
- →Recognizing the patient's/resident's autonomy and promoting independence by means of respect, limits setting, and individualized treatment.
- →Reinforcing age related healthcare education for patients/residents and or significant other.
- →Independently performs EKGs for unit patients operating a standard 12 lead EKG machine.
- →Makes voltage adjustments when indicated.
- →Repeats EKGs or repositions patients to eliminate artifact, especially with Spinal Cord Injury patients.
- →Makes notation on EKG report for provider when a patient has a pacemaker or an AICD unit.
- →Integrate and apply pertinent aspects of the Outpatient Clinic performance improvement program into his/her professional practice as applicable..
- →Schedule appointments for patients in collaboration with team members to ensure that all patients are scheduled within time constraints established by ACA guidelines and VHA policies especially adhering to priority access for service connected and OEF/OIF veteran populations.
- →Additional duties as assigned.
- →Work Schedule: Intermittent in nature: Tours available- 7:30apm - 4:00pm and 8:00am - 4:30pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
