What You'll Do
- →If selected for this position, you will serve as a Legal Assistant with the United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Mississippi.
- →At the full performance level, you will support Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSA) by providing a variety of legal assistance and office support services.
- →Examining, preparing and processing a variety of technical legal documents.
- →Reviewing and analyzing debt claims for compliance with the Federal Debt Collection Procedures Act.
- →Determining the appropriateness and cost-effectiveness of pursuing the obligation subsequent to the entry of judgment to enforce collections.
- →Obtaining and analyzing financial information on debtors to determine their present and future potential ability to pay.
- →Initiating the appropriate pleadings and orders needed to start post-judgement remedies such as garnishment, examination of judgement debts in aid of execution, and the issuance of writs of execution; and Maintaining paper and electronic records.
- →Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
