About the Role

Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work for approximately 11 months (early February to mid-January), and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their grade level. GS-06: $50,630 (Step 1) to $65,819 (Step 10) per year - Salary Table 2026-DEN

What You'll Do

  • Lead full-time, career seasonal, and/or temporary employees on a regular and recurring basis in which the highest subordinate grade level is GS-05.
  • This position is non-supervisory in nature.
  • Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc.
  • Perform assignments associated with the collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue collected from the public in accordance with all NPS and U.S.
  • Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds.
  • Review and verify the functionality of new fee related systems or modifications to existing systems as a result of regulatory and program requirements.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of manuals and/or standard operating procedures for the implementation of new and existing system designs and/or modifications.
  • Provide informal and formal training and education to employee, partners, volunteers, interns, cooperating association representatives, etc. regarding automated and non-automated fee processes, systems, software programs, tools, etc.
  • Physical Demands: This position requires standing for long periods of time, as well as walking, bending, and lifting of moderately heavy items.
  • Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to the high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money.
  • If applicable, extreme physical exertion may be required while performing search and rescue, wildland firefighting, or emergency response duties.
  • Work Environment: This position typically works at an entrance station, campground office, fee office, remit office, visitor center, and/or visitor contact station.
  • Work is often performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight.
  • Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S.
  • Citizen or National.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
