About the Role
The incumbent serves as the Lead Dental Assistant within the Clinical Section of Dental at the Central VA Health Care System. This position works with the Supervisory Dental Assistant and Dental Service Chief to monitor and make work assignments, providing input on performance, resolving daily workplace issues, and maintaining efficient flow of patient care.

- →Providing instructions on maintenance of all dental service equipment.
- →Supporting the chief for daily delivery of department programs, reporting, staffing and scheduling, coordinating patients' care plans to reduce redundancy and delay in patient treatment.
- →Assisting customers with questions or concerns, providing service recovery.
- →Setting up operatory and/or surgery suites for planned dental procedures and cleaning the dental unit for timely turnover.
- →Passing instruments safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- →Keeping operative field clear of debris and retracting oral tissues effectively and comfortably.
- →Preparing dental medicaments and impression materials per manufacturer's instructions.
- →Accomplishing all intra-operative procedures within standard infection control protocols.
- →Exposing stand and special dental imaging (i.se.
- →TMJ, ceph, cone beam) in traditional and/or digital formats.
- →Demonstrates proper infection control procedures in setting up and cleaning operatories.
- →Maintaining scheduling keys and all related training regarding scheduling.
- →Maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA with written and verbal information.
