About the Role
This position is located in the Fleet and Family Readiness Division at Navy Region Northwest. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of tasks requiring moderately heavy physical effort.
What You'll Do
- →Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc.
- →Moves heavy boxes or cartons by hand, hand-truck, or dolly.
- →Opens crates and boxes using crowbars and cuts bands using shears.
- →Stacks boxes and cartons where directed.
- →Using a shovel, digs ditches where grading and sloping is not required.
- →Fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
- →Runs hand and powered lawnmowers which do not require very heavy physical effort.
- →Clears small trees and bushes using hatchet, handsaw, or clipper.
- →Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as directed.
- →May shovel snow, sand or dirt from sidewalks.
- →Collects and empties garbage cans, burns garbage and trash.
- →Washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or using powered buffer.
- →Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- ✓Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation Must possess or be able to obtain a fork lift driver's license, first aid, and CPR certifications within the first 60 days of employment Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- ✓Work indoors may expose the worker to drafts, noise, dust and dirt, and require standing on concrete floors for long periods.
- ✓Special care is required to avoid serious injuries.
- ✓Outdoor work is performed in all kinds of weather.
- ✓Required to wear issued protective gear such as safety gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, boots, etc.
- ✓This position involves work on workdays and may involve weekends, and holidays, as well as rotating shifts, often consisting of other than normal duty hours.
- ✓Exerts moderately heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects (weighing about 50 lbs) There is no education requirement.
