This position is located in the Office of Civil Rights and Ombudsman (S/OCR), Office of the Secretary of State, U.S. Department of State. S/OCR manages the Department's internal civil rights programs and policies, primarily the Department's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program and Anti-Harassment Program. The Investigative Specialist handles all phases of investigations.
What You'll Do
- →Conducts virtual and in-person interviews, takes thorough notes, and obtains sworn affidavits from relevant parties.
- →Develops and applies a variety of methods, techniques, and procedures to gather and analyze evidence for discrimination claims.
- →Gathers information and collects documentary evidence on allegations of discrimination during case intake phase through questionnaires or interviews with complainants to determine the direction of an investigation.
- →Drafts and compiles Reports of Investigations (ROIs), organizing affidavits and relevant documentary evidence for clear reference and legal sufficiency.
- →Manages and monitors workflow and work products during absences of the team lead who normally serves this function.
- →May be designated to orient and train new investigators.
- →Maintains email and electronic case files according to standard procedures developed by S/OCR to facilitate records retrieval and compliance with Freedom of Information Act and other recordkeeping regulations.
