About the Role
This Interior Designer position is within Major Project Services at the VAMC located in St. Louis, MO. This position is responsible for planning, implementation, and operational management of a comprehensive Interior Design Program and provides complete, from concept to installation, interior design services for the organization to include satellite facilities.
What You'll Do
- →***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Plans and implements interior design projects for healthcare facilities, including new construction, renovation, and space improvement initiatives.
- →Develops interior design solutions, floor plans, finish schedules, and furniture layouts to support patient care and operational needs.
- →Reviews architectural and engineering design submittals for compliance with VA standards, codes, and facility design criteria.
- →Prepares design specifications, cost estimates, and procurement documentation for furnishings, finishes, and interior construction elements.
- →Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) or technical representative for furniture, furnishings, and interior design-related procurements.
- →Manages furniture and furnishings programs, including planning, acquisition, installation, and replacement activities.
- →Develops and maintains multi-year interior design and furniture replacement plans to support facility requirements.
- →Monitors project schedules, budgets, and resource requirements to ensure timely completion of interior design projects.
- →Coordinates with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and facility stakeholders throughout project planning and execution.
- →Evaluates and selects furniture, finishes, materials, and equipment to ensure compliance with healthcare, safety, accessibility, and infection control requirements.
- →Develops and implements facility signage and wayfinding programs to improve navigation and regulatory compliance.
- →Conducts site inspections and evaluates contractor performance to verify compliance with design specifications and project requirements.
- →Coordinates space planning, relocations, furniture moves, and activation activities associated with construction and renovation projects.
- →Maintains project records, drawings, specifications, budgets, and design documentation to support program management and project execution.
