About the Role
The Selectee serves as Interior Designer in the Engineering Service Office. The Selectee is responsible to the interior design program in two major components: (1) SLVHCS which is comprised of eight Outpatient Clinics located in New Orleans, Baton Rouge; Houma, Reserve, Franklin, Hammond, Slidell, and Bogalusa, Louisiana, (2) Main Campus- includes inpatient, outpatient, research, administrative, and rehabilitation space as well as central energy plant.
What You'll Do
- →Responsible for planning, implementation and operational management of a complete Interior Design program for a VA organization.
- →Plan and coordinate the activities of other individuals, commercial vendors and to serve as liaison with same.
- →Provides complete, from concept to installation, interior design services for the organization to include satellite facilities.
- →Provides plans, consultation, advice, specifications, and designs for virtually all spaces involved in new construction and/or renovation; reviews Architect/Engineer submittals for compliance with VA regulations and facility design criteria.
- →Develops and maintains a schedule of short and long range interior-improvement projects for the facility through the 5-year interior design plan and other programs to identify existing and future project needs.
- →Originates orders for furnishings, window treatments, patient cubicle curtains, wall coverings, floor coverings, wall art, lighting, ceiling treatments, casework, and all other interior design related accoutrements.
- →Effectively utilizes an annual interior design budget in recurring funds and budgeting projects that may involve millions of dollars in non-recurring funds.
- →Works with the Sign Designer to maintain interior/exterior signage and directional graphics to comply with "Signage Systems Standards Manual", M-00-2.
- →Represents the facility at various design-trade functions and maintains an effective rapport with design-industry vendors and/or representatives.
- →Responds to requests, complaints, etc. related to interior design and moves.
- →Active participant of all committees that significantly impact the Interior Design program.
- →Serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and administers contracted projects to insure contractor compliance with drawings, specifications, regulations, and policy.
- →Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am -3:30pm, 7:30am-4:00pm, 8:00am-4:30pm; subject to change based on the needs of the facility.
- →Telework: Yes, this position may be authorized for Adhoc-telework.
