About the Role

You will serve as a Interdisciplinary Engineer in the Electro-Optic (EO) and Special Mission Sensors Division of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

What You'll Do

  • You will be a task leader, plans the approach and design using quantitative methodologies for evaluating experimental upgrades to existing EO/IR sensors, design of EO/IR systems.
  • You will lead a team to aid in the development of requirements, the writing of a system specification, rank proposals from potential vendors and prepare the test plan, and implement it, to test a prototype system onboard a government aircraft.
  • You will provide technical recommendations regarding naval performance specifications utilizing the Systems Engineering Process via Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Reviews.
  • You will develop novel concepts for passive and active electro-optical surveillance systems and assists in coordinating across programs, platforms and competencies to share development opportunities and maximize command resources.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
