Hydrologic Technicians collect and manage water data, maintain and troubleshoot monitoring equipment, ensure data quality, and support fieldwork and reporting in varied conditions. What You'll Do
- →Collecting various types of hydrologic data in the field using standard methods, practices, and procedures.
- →Calibrating and programing electronic water quality/quantity data recording devices.
- →Using standard computer software to store, retrieve, organize and, summarize data.
- →Using a specialized database to store data.
- →Undertaking quality control procedures to identify data issues.
- →Working with diverse individuals under a variety of conditions, including remote wilderness settings.
- →Troubleshooting electronic water quality/quantity data recording devices.
- →Using a specialized database to correct and grade data.
- →Producing preliminary reports and informal presentations summarizing routine phases of water quality investigations.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Males must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement.
- ✓You will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓Occupancy of government quarters may be required.
- ✓Government housing may be available but is not guaranteed.
- ✓Use find a park to contact specific parks for more information on government housing.
- ✓Must be able to handle, collect, and account for money.
- ✓You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and/or shift work.
- ✓You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
- ✓You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists.
- ✓Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
