About the Role

This National Guard position is for a HR Specialist (Information Systems/Military) - T32, Position Description Number D2933000/D2932000/D2931000 and is part of the WI 128 FSS, Wisconsin Air National Guard. *Selected candidate will be placed into either the GS-7,9 or 11 grade level based on discretion of the hiring official/board.

What You'll Do

  • As a HR Specialist (Information Systems/Military) - T32, GS-0201-7/9/11, you will: GS-07: Perform developmental assignments of moderate difficulty where work procedures are established, and several specific guidelines exist.
  • Assignments are combined with training to further develop analytical skills and techniques in the occupation.
  • Assists a higher graded specialist in planning, administering, and troubleshooting the operation and data base integrity of the Military Personnel Data System in support of military human resources management functions.
  • Provide training on utilization of the different components of the Military Personnel Data System (MILPDS).
  • Assists in providing technical guidance regarding the overall scope of the MILPDS and interfacing systems to identify and solve personnel system related problems, which could inhibit or prevent a high state of readiness.
  • GS-09: Provide broad management advisory services.
  • Analyzes and resolves operational problems and ensures compliance with military human resources policies, regulations, objectives, and management procedures.
  • Responds to inquiries from all base-level personnel system managers.
  • Provides direction and gives advice to section chiefs and representatives of serviced organizations on methods to approach to systems related discrepancies discovered through analysis.
  • Monitors corrective actions.
  • Interprets Department of War (DoW) directed or legislative policies affecting the Military Personnel Data System (MilPDS) and recommends enhancements.
  • Manages, and controls the operation of PDS to include the MilPDS, Virtual Personnel Center (vPC), PersonnelRecords Display Application (PRDA) Enterprise Output Manager (EOM), and other related system interfaces.
  • Provides technical support to include system security, user account management, and user access.
  • Provides advisory services to users on the technical aspects of PDS applications, the capabilities available within the systems to assist them in day-to-day operations and their impact on personnel programs.

Requirements

  • MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

  • Military Grades: E-3 through E-7 Conditions of Employment: Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver's license is mandatory.
