About the Role

The position is in the Office of Human Resources with the incumbent working under the direction of the Associate Director of HR Operations (Benefits and Retirement). The primary purpose of the position is to provide consultant and advisory services to employees, management, and senior officials regarding employee benefits and entitlements, such as retirement, benefits, health and life insurance, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).

What You'll Do

  • As a, HR Specialist (Benefits) (HR Benefits Program Specialist), GS- 0201-11, your typical work assignments may include: Processing retirement actions, benefits enrollments, changes, designation of beneficiary forms, Federal Milestone program and reviews Official Personnel Folders to validate benefits documents.
  • Gathers, reviews, consolidates, and prepares required paperwork and reports; cites regulatory references and offers solutions to benefit cases.
  • Serving as a Benefits consultant and on-site advisor to employees and managers, providing guidance on employee benefits.
  • Assisting in resolving complex benefits issues by coordinating efforts between employees, healthcare providers, external agencies, and professional offices.
  • Preparing and delivering briefs, presentations, and counseling sessions on retirement, disability, and other benefits-related topics.
  • Utilizing HRIS systems and office automation tools to create, edit, store, or maintain spreadsheets or databases, etc. and to retrieve essential documents, ensuring compliance with digital recordkeeping standards and maintain the integrity of the information.

Requirements
