About the Role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a HR SPEC (MILITARY) (Title 32) (Indefinite), Position Description Number D1118P00 and is part of the VA Recruiting Retention Command, National Guard.

What You'll Do

  • Carries out specific projects toaccomplish the technical support missions of the AMEDD Strength Office.
  • Advises commanders,unit personnel and applicants on regulatory requirements of the programs and develops letters ofinstruction.
  • Reviews, interprets, and implements policies, directives, and other issuances byDepartment of Army (DA), National Guard Bureau (NGB), United States Army RecruitingCommand (USAREC) and outside control agencies for applicability to activities.
  • Takes appropriateaction to comply with directives or refers the matter to the AMEDD Strength Manager, Recruiting& Retention Manager, MILPO, and State Surgeon/Deputy State Surgeon for action.
  • Participates in developing and implementing written policies and guidelines pertaining torecruiting and retention programs for AMEDD, Chaplain, and SJA positions such as localregulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintains copies and updates all applicableAMEDD, Chaplain and SJA recruiting and retention guidelines.
  • Coordinates and participates in recruiting efforts both locally and nationally at recruitingevents such as medical conferences, medical school and dental school programs.
  • Reviewsdemographic areas for targeting of desired specialties.
  • Conducts on site visits to answer questions,resolve problems, and assist at state and national conferences to recruit new applicants.
  • Asrequired, the incumbent is assigned to portions of the recruiting campaigns and conferences toassist in planning displays.
  • Participates in the development of advertising concepts for AMEDD,Chaplain, and SJA officers to be implemented by state and possibly at a national level.
  • Monitorslocal advertising activity and reviews coordination of specialty branch information activity toinclude lead retrieval.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the recruiting efforts and suggests alternateevents to increase strength.
  • Determines the budget requirements for travel, advertising, and officerequirements.

Requirements

  • If you are using Education to qualify for this position: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims.
  • To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
