Employee will be assigned to Environmental Management Service (EMS), VA Medical Center, Birmingham, AL, providing technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing tasks (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution, and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but may not be limited to the following: Assigns staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis; reorganizes work schedules efficiently to ensure work is accomplished in a timely manner; and coordinates work with supervisors of other services within the positions area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care or other activities.
- →Provides on-the job training for subordinates as individual needs dictate and to ensure the housekeeping duties are effectively accomplished.
- →Keeps subordinates abreast of proper methods, procedures, and uses of equipment and supplies; and controls the use of supplies and equipment to affect cost control within the unit; and ensures all safety regulations and procedures are observed and may on occasion be required to conduct training classes on specific safety issues.
- →Approves leave requests for subordinates, counsels' employees, and recommends disciplinary action to a higher-level supervisor whenever non-compliance with policy warrants; and conducts formal appraisal of subordinates works performance and conduct.
- →Works independently following up on all work assignments to ensure that established procedures, work assignments and safety standards are being properly applied and adjusting as necessary; and ensures time and attendance records are accurate and complete prior to submission to timekeeper.
- →Performs other related duties as assigned.
- →Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm.
