This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. The position, generally aligned under to the Housekeeping Supervisor, is responsible for supporting and performing tasks (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the Environmental Management Services (EMS) goals and objectives.
What You'll Do
- →Works alone and must be able to do all cleaning duties on their own and without instruction.
- →Possess the ability and knowledge to use common cleaning tools and lightweight vacuum cleaners.
- →Uses, move, and control heavy equipment, carry and set up ladders and scaffolding, and occasionally work from ladders Vacuums and shampoo rugs, using heavy (industrial-type) shampooers and lightweight vacuum cleaners.
- →Scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers and buffers.
- →Performs minor maintenance on vacuum cleaners, power scrubbers, buffers and polishers.
- →Lifts objects weighting over 40 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
- →P Inspects equipment at the end of the day to ensure it is cleaned and in proper working order.
- →Cleans according to established aseptic and aesthetic techniques used throughout the medical center that makes for a pleasant environment for patients, staff and visitors.
- →Assists the Housekeeping Supervisor with plans as needed, including reassignment of staff to meet requirements.
- →Work Schedule: Monday- Friday; 7:00am- 3:30pm, Rotating weekends and Holidays, subject to change based on agency needs.
- →Position Description Title/PD#: Housekeeping Aid (Leader) Physical Requirements: This position requires occasional bending/stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
- →Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- →Approximately 40 percent of time spent standing, 40 percent of time spent walking and 20 percent of time spent sitting.
- →Hearing and visual acuity.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
