The Housekeeping Aid - Environmental Services Technician performs the full range of manual cleaning tasks (ex: sweeping, dust mopping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, dusting, sanitizing, decontaminating and disinfecting) relevant to the facility you are assigned.
What You'll Do
- →Makes beds, change linens, collect soiled linens, remove, transport, repackage, dispose and store general waste, regulated medical waste, chemotherapeutic waste and radioactive waste, and may deliver clean linen and supplies.
- →Checks and replenishes consumable supplies (e.g.: soap, hand towels, toilet tissue, bottled water, latex gloves, etc.) in the course of cleaning and servicing rooms and areas within the Medical Center.
- →Removes, transports, repackages, disposes and stores sharps as a part of service rendered to clinics in patient rooms, and may replace filled sharps containers with empty containers.
- →Work Schedule: multiple shifts.
- →Shifts include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, Shift availability will be discussed during interviews.
- →Position Description Title/PD#: Housekeeping Aid - Environmental Services Technician/PD99909S Physical Requirements: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing.
- →The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds.
- →The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
