About the Position: This position is located at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation under Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense Workforce. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Advanced leave accrual may be authorized.
What You'll Do
- →Assist the pathologist while cutting specimens and make the proper determination of methods in preparing tissue for microscopic examination.
- →Operate the highly complex immunohistochemical stainer to produce targeted immunostains.
- →Prepare split skin substates for testing.
- →Prepare staining reagents to perform a variety of special staining techniques for immunofluorescence and histopathology procedures.
- →Perform difficult embedding techniques to ensure proper positioning of minute tissue specimens for freezing and cutting frozen sections.
- →Calibrate and maintain instruments and equipment.
