About the Role

Serve as a facility Structural/Civil Engineer in the Infrastructure and Logistics Division or as a facility Electrical Engineer in the Electrical Systems Branch, Spaceport Integration Directorate, providing maintenance and engineering oversight across KSC facility systems. You will collaborate with engineers and contractors to troubleshoot issues, ensure preventive maintenance, plan system upgrades, and provide technical reviews of design and construction projects for operational readiness.

What You'll Do

  • Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised.
  • Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
  • Serves as Electrical System or Structural/Civil Systems Engineer for assigned KSC Facilities, Systems, Equipment, and Utilities (FSEU), including bridges, building structures and towers or power, grounding, and controls to support aerospace missions.
  • Provides expert support for operations, maintenance, and sustaining engineering for the FSEU, including planning, design, and development of facilities, systems, and equipment for aerospace projects and programs.
  • Provides proactive, effective Government stewardship and technical oversight of KSC Institutional structural, corrosion control, and electrical systems and facilities; performs technical evaluations of documentation and design reviews.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of assigned systems; reviews and approves/disapproves contractor’s preventive maintenance plans, deferrals, and other documentation, including long-range plans, based on engineering analysis and mission impact.
  • Participates, assesses, and provides technical expertise, as required, in resolution of assigned facility and system issues.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of facility and system configurations, operational status, and readiness; takes independent actions to maximize system availability and ensure operational readiness.
  • Maximizes the use of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) techniques in developing and optimizing system maintenance plans to improve reliability and lifecycle performance.

Requirements

  • If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
  • Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
