You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER in the Emergency Manager Branch (Code 106AX), of the Emergency Management Division (Code 106A), in the Occupational Safety Health & Environmental Department (Code 106), of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as the primary technical point of contact for all matters regarding industrial fire safety, as well as identification, evaluation, and mitigation of all associated risks.
- →You will provide technical expertise on electrical, electronic, mechanical, and other engineering principles related to fire prevention, fire safety, and fire protection.
- →You will ensure compliance with fire safety technical requirements of NAVSEA Technical Publication S0570-AC-CCM-010/8010, Industrial Ship Safety Manual for Fire Prevention and Response.
- →You will promote and maintain environment of cooperation and teamwork by leading and guiding others in formulating and executing team plans.
- →You will conduct accident investigations and inspections or reviews of shipboard conditions, plans, and equipment.
- →You will perform special engineering analysis and studies in support of NAVSEA for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, procedures, material, practices, etc.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
