This position is located in Shiloh National Military Park, in the Interpretation Division. Open until 07/23/2026 . What You'll Do
- →Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis.
- →You will work from approximately 11 months, and you will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months from December 27 through February 6, per year based on project requirements or weather conditions.
- →As an Educational Technician, you will perform the following duties: Present K-12 curriculum-based education programs following established themes, learning objectives, curriculum requirements, guidelines, utilizing teaching methods appropriate to each grade level.
- →Present teacher training workshops and staff training.
- →Research, develop and present resource-based interpetive programs for the public during peak visitation periods or if staff stortages occur.
- →Provide orientation information at visitor centers and respond to visitor questions, emergencies, or other needs by phone, email or in person.
- →Assist with the day-to-day operation of the education program including answering phones, record keeping, internal communications, correspondences, and materials maintenance and storage.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- ✓Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- ✓You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- ✓You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work overtime.
- ✓You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 night per month.
- ✓You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- ✓You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- ✓As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1 year probantionary during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
