The Environment of Care Specialist is responsible for the development, preparation, coordination, and ongoing maintenance of the Environment of Care Program {EOC) at Cincinnati VAMC. Cincinnati VAMC is a progressive health care provider in the Southeastern Part of Ohio. Cincinnati VAMC provides comprehensive health services through primary, tertiary and long-term care in many areas like medicine, surgery, mental health and rehabilitation.
What You'll Do
- →The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) is a two-division campus located in Cincinnati, OH and Fort Thomas, KY serving 15 counties in Southwest OH, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana with 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Bellevue, KY; Florence, KY; Lawrenceburg, IN; Hamilton, OH; Clermont County, OH, and Georgetown, OH.
- →The CVAMC also supports two off main campus locations in the Cincinnati area via an Eye Center and Mental Health Outreach Community Division.
- →Duties of the position include but are not limited to: You will function as the coordinator and point of contact for the Environment of Care and accreditation policies and activities developed at the health care facility.
- →You will be working with all levels of staff across all programs within the facility, including top level management, systems redesign teams, and front-line staff in performance improvement and accreditation compliance.
- →You will be responsible for monitoring activities to ensure work is accomplished satisfactorily and ensuring adequate supplies are on hand for employees to perform the assigned tasks.
- →You will investigate and validate all customer complaints and coordinates with supervisors to correct complaints regarding sanitation deficiencies.
- →You will oversee and facilitate Environment of Care program for accreditation with various groups (Joint Commission, CARF) throughout the entire medical center.
- →You will ensure that quality improvement initiatives are complete, that all technical requirements are met, and all implementation requirements are accurately identified.
- →You will identify trending and repeat issues in the Environment of Care program.
- →You will advise/support leadership in publicizing and promoting environment of care improvement successes and activities.
- →You will inspect or survey workplace, processes, products, policies, and other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health.
- →You will make complex decisions based on a full assessment of the varying requirements of different hospital departments.
- →Work Schedule: 12:00pm - 9:00pm, possible rotating days.
- →Final work schedule will be determined once a selection is made.

- ✓The incumbent may carry light loads of papers, books, or reports that do not require special physical demands.
- ✓The work is usually performed in an office setting.
- ✓However, the Incumbent may be subjected to dust, lint, harsh chemicals, noise and heat, etc. while performing environmental rounds.
- ✓The incumbent is required to travel to all the Cincinnati VAMC sites 35% in the performance of the duty.
