You will serve as an ENGINEER in the Systems Engineering Department (E), Weapons Research & Evaluation Division (E6), Electrostatic Discharge Assessment Branch (E65) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-3 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-9 through GS-11; the ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a technical representative and Engineering Agent in the area of Ordnance Electrical Safety (OES) to Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity (NOSSA), government and industry activities, and fleet activities.
- →You will be responsible for performing Testing, Interrogation and Programming (TIP) operations; reviewing test sets before the electrical test equipment can be connected to ordnance to ensure safety.
- →You will perform OES assessments in accordance for fail-safe squib meters, portable test equipment and fixed site test equipment for conducting electrical testing on live, explosive ordnance.
- →You will also be responsible to participate in commission demonstrations at various test facilities and Navy ships using ordnance test equipment.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
