About the Role

You will serve as a Division Principal Engineer (DPE) in the Undersea Distributed Test & Range Sustainment Division of the Test & Evaluation Department of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA. This position is equivalent to the GS-14/15 level.

What You'll Do

  • You will ensure vessel readiness for operations and provides concurrence on all statements of work for range craft shipyard availabilities.
  • You will set policy and make decisions concerning the software-based maintenance database including reports, metrics, standards, and technical content.
  • You will be accountable for the acceptance of equipment and technical services provided by other organizations including software, range systems, In Service Engineering (ISE) efforts, contracted services, and shipyards.
  • You will perform reviews and provide periodic reports to the division head and others as appropriate on the technical health of division competencies.
  • You will implement standards and policies that focus on continuous improvement of work practices in the division, including establishing necessary standards that meet local and higher authority guidance.
  • You will develop and implement workforce shaping policies and requirements for engineers, technicians, and related science fields.
  • You will be responsible for resolving technical issues associated with the function, operation, organization, and resource health of division technical systems and capabilities.
  • You will make decisions necessary to implement appropriate standards and practices to ensure safe and technically correct accomplishment of division workload.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
