This position is located in the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System in Facilities Management Service. The incumbent will perform installation, modifications, maintenance, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical distribution systems, wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment in healthcare, industrial and office settings. The position requires knowledge and application of electrical principles, materials, and safety standards.
What You'll Do
- →DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupation.
- →Major Duties Include: Installation, modification, repair, troubleshooting, maintenance and testing of complex electoral systems, circuits, equipment, appliances, controls, components, lighting fixtures and fire alarm systems.
- →Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement, type size, gauge, balance, load continuity, and safe operating of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls.
- →Determines and places distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections and installs wiring, couplings, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices including electrical service entrances.
- →The work involves installing, modifying, repairing and maintaining electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls and equipment.
- →Troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment.
- →Plans and lays out work, tracing hard to locate defects or problems, and completes repairs and installations.
- →Other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician/PD12037A Physical Requirements: The work requires frequently handling heavy materials and parts weighing in excess of 45 pounds.
- →The work also requires pulling, pushing, reaching, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, bending, and climbing for sustained periods of time.
- →Physical effort is often strenuous and is typical of industrial construction trades.
- →Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside (heat, cold, under and outside of building).
- →Installations, inspections and repairs are made under dirty, noisy and odorous producing conditions.
- →He/she is frequently exposed to the danger of strains, cuts, bruises, burns, and infections
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
