About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-0850-7/9/11/12, Electrical Engineer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SFLC Electrical Systems Branch, in Glen Burnie, MD.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as an Electrical Engineer and be responsible for investigating, preparing and evaluating feasibility studies, design layouts, electrical specifications, time and cost estimates of electrical machinery and equipment installed or to be installed on Coast Guard Vessels.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Reviews plans, specifications, and cost estimates for technical adequacy for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Participates in the development of requirements with customers, analyzes requirements and design criteria, develops cost estimates, assures validation of requirements, and evaluates schedules and feasibility of project accomplishment.
  • Participates in designing, developing and defending requirements in Electrical Systems area.
  • Consults with all levels of management, headquarters personnel, other federal agencies, and to commercial organizations in the design or construction of electrical systems or equipment.
  • Assists with coordinating and integrating the planning, programming, development, oversight, scheduling and overall management of resources for assigned projects involving electrical equipment and systems.
