What You'll Do
- →Reviews electrical plans and specifications prior to construction, ensuring compliance with engineering principles, established criteria, and facility master plans.
- →Participates in design review conferences with architects, engineers, and contractors, providing technical expertise and supporting the source selection process.
- →Approves electrical materials, equipment submittals, and shop drawings, while monitoring contractor progress, particularly regarding long-lead-time items.
- →Proactively identifies opportunities to improve facility performance, reduce construction costs, or enhance project outcomes through suggested changes to design and specifications.
- →Conducts field investigations and compiles data to support proposed modifications, preparing associated cost estimates, sketches, and revised schedules.
- →Conducts studies and investigations to resolve complex electrical engineering problems arising during construction.
- →Collaborates with stakeholders to determine needs and develop solutions, preparing comprehensive documentation (correspondence, specifications, procedures) to support contract modifications.
- →Compiles technical data for progress reports and assists in preparing payment estimates.
- →Coordinates and verifies the accuracy of all electrical cost estimates processed through the Resident Engineer Office.
- →Exercises oversight of contractor quality control activities, verifying the adequacy of testing, material utilization, construction methods, safety procedures, and equipment installation.
- →Ensures full compliance with contract documents, applicable electrical codes, functional requirements, and safety regulations outlined in EM 385-1-1 and other relevant guidelines.
