About the Role

This vacancy announcement may be used to fill positions at various Department of the Navy Commands, including but not limited to the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command.

What You'll Do

  • →You will execute in-house electrical engineering design work products and services within specified milestones and quality standards.
  • →You will perform all aspects of electrical engineering design for a wide variety of installation shore facility types.
  • →You will lead multi-disciplinary in-house (IH) design teams, executing IH projects as well as overseeing design efforts accomplished via Architectural/Engineering (A/E) firms.
  • →You will coordinate the electrical engineering design with the engineering disciplines for Design-Bid-Build (DBB) and Design-Build (DB) projects to ensure overall compatibility and efficiency of the site and building design.
  • →You will conduct site investigation field trips to project sites, as required, to collect all pertinent data and refine or develop project scope by inspection of existing conditions and through meetings with the sponsoring and using activities.
  • →You will perform technical management and oversight on execution of multi-disciplinary design projects whether accomplished by IH or A/E forces.
  • →You will provide technical guidance to A/E firms regarding criteria application and unique Department of Defense (DoD) functional requirements.

Requirements

  • ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • ✓Office of Personnel Management.

  • ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
