About the Role

You will serve as a ELECTRICAL ENGINEER in the Public Works Department of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.

What You'll Do

  • You will have specific knowledge of utility services, rate structures, capital investments related to utility systems, and energy management.
  • You will have broad understanding of state and local jurisdictions over the use of land and natural resources, the construction of facilities and utilities, and the distribution of utilities services.
  • You will have comprehensive knowledge of government energy reduction objectives and be familiar with Public Work, Department and NAVFAC processes and standards.
  • You will have knowledge of electrical engineering theory, design parameters and applicable codes and regulation as applied to primary and secondary electrical distribution.
  • You will have extensive knowledge of practices, procedures, standards and methods used in office and field engineering work in conjunction with electrical systems design operation application and energy use management.
  • You will have knowledge of principles of utility operations and engineering; engineering applications; value engineering and capital investment decision analysis.
  • You will have the ability to read and interpret plans, specification, and engineering drawings, and prepare reports.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
