This position is located in the Mt. Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC), Facilities Management Division, Engineering Branch. The ideal candidate will have medium voltage distribution experience and have recent proficiency in using software for arc flash hazard analysis and coordination studies.
What You'll Do
- →All MWEOC staff have emergency assignments and are considered deployed in place.
- →Exercises and activations are planned and unplanned, and may require long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
- →All MWEOC employees are: (1) required to use a government-issued electronic device (to include cellular phones); (2) subject to recall during emergency situations; and (3) required to perform work in locations both above and below ground.
- →What will I do in this position if hired?
- →In this position, you will serve as an electrical engineer providing support to the agency's Facilities Management program as a technical expert in support of power distribution, including project management and contracting officer representative duties for design and construction contracts.
- →Typical assignments include: Serving as the primary electrical design engineer for projects and client interface, preparing designs and specifications and other required contract documents.
- →Evaluating electrical equipment and systems such as power generation, medium voltage distribution, fire alarm, lighting, specialty systems, and preparing design computations and assessments.
- →Performing or directing surveys and field investigations to determine existing condition and layout information to include arc flash hazard analysis and coordination studies using appropriate software.
- →Performing technical review of contractor-prepared designs and specifications of systems.
- →Coordinating and conducting periodic review of contractor construction projects.
