This position is within the Bonneville Power Administration's Chief Administrative Office > Workplace Services > Facilities O&M. As the lead Electrical Engineer, you will be the expert ensuring the 24/7 reliability of electrical systems that power our most vital control and data centers. Your expertise will safeguard BPA's critical operations through project leadership and strategic infrastructure management, ensuring the lights stay on for our most important functions.
What You'll Do
- →Step into a high-impact role at the heart of the Bonneville Power Administration's mission to deliver reliable, efficient power to the Pacific Northwest.
- →We are seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer to serve as the technical authority for the electrical systems that support our most critical operations.
- →As our subject matter expert, you will ensure the uninterrupted performance of BPA's control centers, data centers, and other mission-critical facilities, directly safeguarding the region's power supply and transmission grid.
- →In this position, you will be empowered to shape the future of our vital infrastructure.
- →Your responsibilities will include: Serve as the lead technical authority for the electrical systems powering BPA's mission-critical facilities, applying your advanced engineering knowledge to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
- →Develop and lead the long-term strategy for Facilities O&M ensuring the modernization and resilience of electrical systems align with BPA's strategic goals.
- →Manage the entire lifecycle of critical electrical assets, from developing multi-year replacement strategies and capital investment plans to overseeing their successful implementation.
- →Lead complex engineering projects from concept to completion, defining scope, managing resources, and coordinating with diverse teams to deliver results on time and within budget.
- →Act as a key advisor to senior leadership, researching and implementing new and emerging technologies to advance the capabilities and efficiency of our data centers and control facilities.
- →Direct critical power system studies, including arc flash, short circuit, and coordination analyses, to ensure the absolute safety, integrity, and reliability of our electrical infrastructure.
- →Provide expert technical oversight for major engineering contracts, from writing Statements of Work (SOW) to managing contractor performance and ensuring all deliverables meet BPA's rigorous standards.
- →Serve as a key member of our emergency response team, providing decisive expert guidance during critical events to restore infrastructure and maintain operational continuity.
- →This position is located in Vancouver, WA, a splendid place to live because of its picturesque downtown area full of trendy shops, delicious restaurants, and exclusive breweries.

Requirements

- ✓Conditions of Employment: On-call 24/7 to respond to equipment and system monitoring alarms to prevent disruptions to Transmission grid operations and to the Power Business Line.
- ✓Must complete a formal COR training course (normally 24 hours), and be certified by Supply Chain as a BPA COR.
- ✓Should have at least six months of experience in the technical field of activity that is the subject of the contract before being assigned to that role, and must attend refresher training as mandated.
- ✓Valid State Driver's License is required to travel alone to remote locations.
- ✓Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
