What You'll Do
- →Manages DLA legal organization.
- →Acts for or assists the DLA General Counsel in establishing DLA General Counsel goals and objectives.
- →Provides professional direction and control over subordinate DLA HQ Associate General Counsel and DLA Chief Counsel.
- →Participates in the hiring, placement, promotion, training, and assignment of all DLA attorneys.
- →Provides policy guidance on attorney personnel matters and participates in resource and budget planning for the DLA legal organization.
- →Ensures that personnel management within the DLA legal organization is accomplished without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, handicap, or national origin.
- →Is responsible for keeping abreast of developments, policy issuances, and other similar material in the equal opportunity field, and for fully supporting the DLA Equal Opportunity Program.
- →Manages DLA Litigation Program.
- →Oversees the management and operation of the DLA Litigation Program.
- →Establishes policies and procedures for the effective operation of the program.
- →In co-ordination with the DLA General Counsel, oversees the general strategy and planning by the DLA Chief Trial Attorney, who is responsible for DLA litigation and all major contract disputes resolution efforts.
- →Ensures that all cases involving DLA before the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals and the Court of Federal Claims receive high level attention and that the Agency's interests are adequately protected.
- →Ensures that litigation positions and strategies are consistent with DoW and DLA policies.
- →Determines DLA's position on proposed settlements of all pending litigation and approves the initiation of litigation.
Requirements
- ✓1) Professional law degree (LLB. or J.D.) 2) Proof that you are licensed and a member in good standing with the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.
- ✓Annual bar certification cards issued from your state of licensure are not considered acceptable.
- ✓Proof is a "certificate of good standing" issued by your state of licensure dated within 6 months of the closing date of this announcement or a screenshot of your bar status taken from your state of licensure website that is dated within 6 months of the closing date of this announcement or sworn statement to that effect.
- ✓If there is not a date on the screen shot, you must provide a statement signed by you on the date that the screen shot was created.
- ✓The successful applicant selected for employment must provide a "certificate of good standing" issued by their respective bar showing they are in good status and in active status prior to appointment.
