About the Role
The Director for Security is responsible for developing policies and procedures for internal security within applicable federal statutes, executive orders, rules and regulations, and established department procedures; directing application of such policies and procedures throughout the department; coordinating matters pertaining to security throughout the department; and providing staff advisory services to internal security to the Secretary and officials, departmental bureaus, and offices.
What You'll Do
- →Director for a leading-edge security organization responsible for a multitude of security disciplines, ensuring the protection of departmental personnel, facilities, missions, and information.
- →Exercises department-wide staff management responsibilities for developing operational policies and procedures for personnel security, information security and the safeguarding of classified national security information (NSI), special security, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) oversight and management, industrial security, operations security, and communications security.
- →Supports the department's foreign access management program and research security activities and ensures effective implementation of and compliance with NSPM 33, whose purpose is to strengthen protections of United States Government-Supported Research and Development (R&D) against foreign government interference and exploitation.
- →Affords high-level, strategic oversight to nationwide security operations and ensures proper leadership for areas of administration, finance, and acquisition, thus ensuring the Department's security requirements are directly supported through appropriate administrative, technical, and financial resources with requisite internal controls.
- →Serves as the department's point of liaison with agencies of federal, state, and local governments and law enforcement and external agencies in all security matters and administrative investigations/inquiries that are not under the jurisdiction of the Inspector General or the Insider Risk Management Program.
Requirements

- ✓All Office of Security, Insider Risk, and Continuity employees, including the Director for Security, are considered Emergency Essential Employees and may be required to assist in providing essential services during an emergency, weather, or COOP event at the worksite, an alternate location, or via telework.

- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for federal employment at the time requested by the agency.
