About the Role

What You'll Do
- →As the Director, Fusion Innovation Research Division, you will: Oversee the full range of operational functions, directing scientific research in areas such as burning plasmas, toroidal confinement devices, plasma theory and computation, materials science, basic plasma science, quantum information science, microelectronics, and plasma technologies.
- →Provide the strategic vision for research conducted at both U.S. and international facilities, supporting experimental, theoretical, and computational efforts.
- →Provide essential scientific, managerial, and executive expertise to develop and manage innovative, high quality research programs, while simultaneously formulating and articulating relevant policy considerations.
- →Lead the establishment of the vision, strategic plans, goals, and objectives for all supported research activities, and then planning, developing, and implementing vital and forefront research programs conducted across a diverse network of DOE laboratories, universities, and other public and private institutions.
- →Coordinate fusion energy sciences with related scientific activities, fosters collaborations in basic plasma physics and fusion-related materials science with other federal agencies (such as the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the National Academy of Sciences), and develops collaborative programs with other DOE program offices.
Requirements
- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- ✓File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report OGE-278 within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.

- ✓Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
- ✓(Please ensure transcripts show required courses) or B.
- ✓Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

- ✓You must submit unofficial or official copies of your college transcripts that shows list of courses, grades earned, completion dates, and quarter or semester hours earned.
- ✓An official transcript will be required if you are selected.

- ✓A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S.
