About the Role

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of Safety and Code Compliance (OSCC), Safety Division. Serves as the Deputy Director of the Safety, Occupational Health and Accessibility Division and is responsible for the total range of the division's programs, including planning, organizing, directing, controlling and managing both the programs as well as the resources assigned to the Division. Acts on behalf of the Safety Director in the Safety Director's absence.

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties: Supervisory and/or Managerial Responsibilities Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates.
  • Articulates and communicates to the safety team the assignment, project or problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones and/or program issues under review.
  • Set deadlines or time frames for completion.
  • Assigns duties and evaluates performance.
  • Develops performance requirements for subordinates.
  • Assists the Safety Director in decisions conforming with occupational safety and health standards applicable to The Architect of the Capitol and with all rules, regulations, and orders issued by the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights (OCWR) with respect to the occupational safety and health programs.
  • Prepares and works with the Safety Director with establishing safety priorities throughout the AOC.
  • Safety and Health Program Management Assists the Safety Director as the technical program manager for the Architect of the Capitol's broad safety and health and compliance program.
  • The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, coordination, and oversight of all AOC policies, procedures and practices pertaining to occupational safety, health and accessibility, as well as the compliance of the AOC with the Congressional Accountability Act (CAA), OSHA 1904,1910 and 1926, DOJ Title I, II, III, requirements.
  • Provides enterprise-wide technical and operational oversight of the safety, occupational health, and accessibility compliance programs, supporting the Director in ensuring an integrated and effective program for the Architect of the Capitol.
  • Serves on behalf of the Safety Director in their absence as the agency representative in matters related to safety, health and accessibility compliance before Federal, state, and industry authorities and acts as the primary Agency interface with safety and health or DOJ regulators at the Federal, State and Local levels.
  • Maintains contacts directly with regulators on routine compliance and reporting matters.

Requirements

  • You must provide an official transcript before appointment.
  • There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
  • Special Instructions for Foreign Education: Education completed outside of the United States must be deemed equivalent to that gained in conventional/accredited U.S. education programs to be acceptable for Federal employment.
  • Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities.
  • Applicants educated in whole or in part of foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree.
  • You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation with a course by course listing if selected.
  • Your resume and question responses must demonstrate the job-related KSAs.
  • You must meet the definition of specialized experience.
  • You must be able to pass a drug test.
