About the Role
The Dental Assistant assists the dentist in many aspects of direct patient care and performs other clinical and clerical functions independently of direct supervision. Dental assistants at this level serve in dental assistant positions independently performing more complex work in assigned specialties while receiving general supervision.

- →Provides assistance to customers with questions or concerns, provides service recovery.
- →Display a cooperative attitude and will effectively work together to implement the organization's mission and goals.
- →Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills.
- →Chairside Assisting: Sets up operatory for planned dental procedure and cleans dental unit, dental equipment and countertops for timely turnover.
- →Passes instruments safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- →Keeps operative field clear of debris and retracts oral tissues effectively and comfortably.
- →Prepares dental medicaments and impression materials per manufacturer's instructions.
- →Accomplishes all intra-operative procedures within VA mandatory infection control protocols.
- →Assists in routine general procedures using concepts of four-handed dentistry.
- →Assist in specialized dental procedures such as, bunt not limited to, oral surgery, prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, and implant surgery and restoration. other duties as assigned.
- →Dental Imaging: Images are characterized by diagnostic quality, accurate orientation and proper exposure.
- →Proficiently exposes standard and specialty intraoral and extraoral images [periapical, bitewing, occlusal, panoramic, TMJ, sinus cephalometric, 3D cone beam, et.] in traditional and/or digital formats as requested by the doctor.
- →Modifies settings to achieve images as requested by the provider.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
