About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Enterprise Services, Workforce Care Directorate. Location: Negotiable after your selection. (Must report to a CBP Facility) Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • In this position, you will serve as an expert analyst and advisor to senior management, with a primary function of applying an in-depth knowledge of computer theory, algorithms, data structures, programming concepts and languages, and computer architecture, to support business lines.
  • This position starts at a salary of $125,776.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $163,514.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

  • Major duties include: Designs, develops, and oversees the implementation of advanced data classification, coding, storage, and retrieval systems, ensuring optimal data integrity, security, accessibility, and interoperability across the agency.
  • Designs, executes, and interprets complex simulations, optimization models, and predictive analytics to provide critical insights and directly inform high-level agency decision-making policy formulation.
  • Advises and develops innovative strategies on measurement of the design, development, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of large-scale projects to analyze programmatic data and forecast the effects of alternative courses of actions and programmatic gaps.
  • Provides expert guidance, advanced mentorship, and comprehensive on-the-job training to junior data scientists, analysts, and other professionals, significantly contributing to the development of the agency's analytical capabilities.
