About the Role
About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Pathology, Blood Donor Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Advance in Hire May Be Authorized Recruitment Incentive May Be Authorized Hours of work are 0430 - 1300. Subject to change based on blood drive schedule and donor availability. May be required to work weekends on occasion in order to meet the mission This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
What You'll Do
- →Perform donor prerequisite assessment including medical histories, physical examinations, laboratory testing on hematology analyzers, venous access and determining overall blood donor (allogeneic, autologous, therapeutic, and apheresis) suitability.
- →Evaluate and select potential blood donors on the basis of experience and clinical judgment and must carefully explain reasons for deferral to such donors.
- →Complete Apheresis Plasma and Platelet collections on suitable donors, monitoring donor and procedures for complications and responding appropriately.
- →Conduct and review Quality Control and Preventive Maintenance on a daily basis and as required on equipment and instrumentation used.
- →Perform lot review and lot release of blood components
