About the Role

This position is part of the Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office, Department of Energy. As a Budget Analyst, you will provide expertise in the analysis of a variety of DOE budgetary operations and functions.

  • Veterans shape the future of energy As a Budget Analyst, you will: Develop, write, and present multi-million dollar budget requests and funding justifications for complex, agency-wide programs.
  • Analyze, edit, and combine budget estimates and resource requests from subordinate offices to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with agency goals.
  • Oversee the allocation of funds, prepare official requests for apportionments or supplemental funding, and track expenditures to prevent over- or under-spending.
  • Audit financial transactions, obligations, and disbursements to ensure full compliance with federal laws, legal guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert recommendations and strategic options to program managers and senior executives regarding budget adjustments, legislative changes, and policy impacts.
  • Provide expert guidance for all travel related issues ensuring that all aspects of booked travel adhere to all government travel regulations.
