You will serve as a Biological Science Technicianwith US Fish and Wildlife Service . This position is a Biological Science Technician, GS-0404-05,06,07, located in Decatur, Alabama, in Region 4 of the Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
What You'll Do
- →As a Biological Science Technician your duties will include but are not limited to the following: GS-5 - Major Duties Assist in propagation and planting of rare/native plant species and maintain greenhouse facilities.
- →Help conduct wildlife and plant surveys, collect field data, and maintain databases.
- →Assist with downloading and organizing wildlife camera images.
- →Support environmental monitoring (temperature, precipitation, etc.) and basic GIS data entry.
- →Perform basic habitat restoration, vegetation removal, and occasional public outreach tasks.
- →GS-6 - Major Duties Conduct propagation of rare/native plant species and prepare habitat restoration plans.
- →Independently perform wildlife and plant surveys and manage associated data systems.
- →Download, analyze, and interpret wildlife camera images to assess wildlife activity.
- →Monitor environmental conditions, enter data in GIS, and prepare charts, graphs, and reports.
- →Carry out vegetation removal, re-vegetation efforts, and limited environmental outreach.
- →GS-7 - Major Duties Lead propagation efforts for rare/native plant species and coordinate with partners on habitat restoration.
- →Independently conduct advanced wildlife and plant surveys and maintain comprehensive biological datasets.
- →Review and interpret wildlife monitoring camera data to evaluate patterns and activity trends.
- →Oversee environmental monitoring, GIS data management, and creation of technical visualizations for reports.
Requirements
- ✓Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
