You will serve as a Biological Science Technician (Plants) with National Park Service. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will be in non-pay status from the end of January to mid-February and will be in a pay status for the remainder of the year.
What You'll Do
- →Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Obtain Arizona Pesticide Applicators License and conduct and lead field crew in all aspects of integrative pest management (botanical and animals) Monitor, manage, research vegetation and wildlife following written protocols.
- →Collect and manage data using multiple devices (GPS, tablets, trail cameras, etc) and software (GIS, photo processing, Microsoft Office suite).
- →Perform quality control on data.
- →Compile reports and presentations on surveys, research, and management work.
- →Communicate clearly intra and inter agency, and with NGOs and the public.
- →Plan field operations, train and lead field crews in monitoring and assessment protocols and safe work operations.
- →Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
- →Pay will vary based on grade level for which you're selected.
- →First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
Requirements

- ✓Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service); with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
- ✓Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement who have had a break in service of less than one year, as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointments.
- ✓Time-in-grade does not apply to new excepted service appointments.
- ✓Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- ✓Must have a current or obtain within 7 days a valid driver's license and maintain throughout employment.
